Hello from your CIYMS CC newsletter

The snapshot of this update is

1s Stay in the Hunt

A dominant display on a rain effected day saw the firsts canter to a big win at the Lawn versus Waringstown

Batting first in a game reduced to 25 overs, there were some rough patches losing 2 early wickets and then 4 wickets for 5 runs in the middle

However either side of that was batting brilliance

The Adair brothers put on 95 in 10 overs, Ross top scoring with 66(47) and Mark with 35(28), to lay a platform and then GK came in to smash 52 from 25 balls in a blistering innings

One over despatched for 25 with 4 sixes by the Spallen Sobers

A total of 206 always looked above par on a used track, and so it proved

Despite racing out of the blocks to 31 after 3 overs Waringstown were bowled out for 82

Keith started proceedings removing McCollum, and then the spinners took the batting line up apart

GK 3-7 from his 4 overs the standout, Jacob and Carson with 2 wickets each and one for John

We ran out winners by 124 runs

Our best to Waringstown player Ross Waite who broke his thumb during the first innings.

We wish him a speedy recovery

We now sit in outright second place, 2 wins behind Lisburn who we play on the final day of the season. It’s going down to the wire

Looking Ahead to the Weekend

Sunday promises to be the biggest day of the season so far for the club

Both the 1s and 2s are in semi-final action

The firsts head south again in the Irish Cup, away to Phoenix with a spot in the final of the biggest competition on the island up for grabs

We would love to get a big crowd down again like we did for Pembroke and support the Young Men

12.30 Start, @Phoenix Cricket Club, Phoenix Park

At the same time the Seconds head north to Bready in the semi final of the Ulster Plate

Another big away day, this one with the prospect of playing on the inter ground to look forward to

12 Start, @Bready Cricket Club, Magheramason

On Saturday Premier League proceedings continue as the 1s welcome North Down to Belmont

Always a fabulous contest, we look forward to seeing you there
