A Special Innings

Balcony gets Rowdy

Ross’ Day

A truly special performance from Ross Adair saw the 1XI advance to the semi finals of the Challenge Cup by beating Instonians

Having been put in to bat, Ross struck 186 from 135 balls, lighting up Belmont with 15 sixes and 14 fours

He shared century stands with both Doc and Matchy

Matchy and skipper Jones the other men to pass 50 in a team score of 367

We think that might be the highest 1XI team score ever at Belmont, and Ross’ 186 the 3rd highest CI individual score ever but we’re having a delve into the archives to check.

Oh, and for the first time in years a ball was hit on to the clubhouse roof. Huge!

We ran out 142 run winners

Super Sunday

Newbuildings came down from the North West in the Irish Cup and what a day it turned out to be

Their double decker bus arrived bright and early and 70+ supporters set about creating one of the best atmospheres we’ve had at Belmont in many a year

On the field CI won the toss and batted first, racking up a total of 326

A fantastic team effort, runs a plenty despite no one passing 50

In reply Newbuildings were in trouble early with Keith bowling a superb opening spell taking top order wickets

With his side looking dead and buried Newbuildings skipper Jared Wilson struck a wonderfully brutal century, 124 including 12 sixes and 9 fours

The clubhouse windows were rattled, and the park treeline was cleared by some mighty, mighty blows, much to the delight of the travelling support who were serenading players from the balcony in the evening sun

Jonesy the canny old fox that he is put the game to bed with 2 wickets in 2 balls to put CI’s name in the hat for the next round

Winners by again, 142 runs

Pitch Perfect

A word to our grounds team Billy and Phil, ably assisted by young Adam Heasley and their supervisor Charlie the dog, for all the work they have been putting in

There were 1,102 runs scored at Belmont across the weekend, with 300 comfortably passed on both days

That is testament to their expertise, experience and hard work.

Belmont is looking and playing better than ever, so make sure to thank them when you see them

Burgers and Ballots

We had the BBQ lit and a raffle running on each day over the weekend, and we’re pleased to say that it raised over £600 for the club

Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts, we felt having the barbie lit really added to the atmosphere at the games

Let us know your thoughts on that and if there are some other things we can do at games to improve the experience

Bonus Ball

The Bonus ball this week was 21 congratulations to Denis Coulter!
